The Competition of Making Geometric Patterns

Recently, the mathematics teaching group held a competition which was called ‘making your own pictures by geometric patterns amongst Grade 5 and 6.

The aim of this competition was to let students know the specialties of each graphics and also the meaning of making geometric patterns by using these graphics. During the competition, students will be expected to develop their DIY skills and thus appreciate the connection between art and geometric patterns.

First of all, the mathematics teacher gave an introduction of this competition including the rules and background knowledge.

During the weekend, students went back home to search for relevant data. Based on the collected information, they started to make their own imaginative art works.

The themes selected by the candidates were very wide, including people, animals, plants, and everyday materials. The judges were very impressed with the students’ works.

Some candidates awarded with prizes for their excellent creation.
