kclogo-1 BRS Curricula

A broad range of international curriculum include AP, A-Level, and IB.

AP Program

Through the school’s extensive College Board AP program, BRS students take college level courses, thereby demonstrating to college admissions officers that they can be successful in higher education and beyond.  Each BRS AP course culminates in a college-level exam developed and scored by college and university faculty members as well as experienced AP teachers. Top colleges and universities and universities worldwide recognize AP in the admission process and accept successful exam scores for credit, advanced placement, or both. Performing well on an AP Exam also increases the chances of admission to the most elite universities in the US and beyond.

Since 2006, BRS has operated China’s most extensive AP program, offering courses and examinations in 22 subjects. BRS is also the only official College AP Demonstration School in China.  All BRS AP courses undergo the College Board’s rigorous audit process and are taught by highly qualified instructors with the experience and training required by the College Board. BRS also offers Pre-AP courses that provide the language training and subject fundamentals crucial to success in more advanced AP courses.

Cambridge Secondary 1 (Ages 11-14)

Cambridge Secondary 1 develops skills and understanding in English, mathematics and science for the first three years of secondary education. It combines a world-class curriculum, high-quality support for teachers and integrated assessment. It can be used to monitor learners’ readiness for the next stage of education, and to provide feedback for parents.

Cambridge IGCSE (Ages 13-16)

Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. It is recognised by leading universities and employers worldwide, and is an international passport to progression and success. Cambridge IGCSE offers a flexible curriculum, with a choice of a wide range of subjects in any combination. The Cambridge International IGCSE offers a wide range of directions for students of all abilities, including non-native English speakers. Assessment is conducted at the end of the course, with written, oral, homework and practical exam options.

Cambridge International AS & A Level (Ages 16 to 19)

We offer full support, designed carefully around the curriculum, qualifications, classroom resources and the needs of our global learning community.

In the year 2003, Beijing Royal School, together with Cambridge International Examinations, set up IGCSE and AS & A Level courses, becoming the first Cambridge International Examination Centre approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. The course is widely recognised around the world, being accredited as the “Gold Standard Course.”

Advantages of As & A Level courses in Beijing Royal School

Thorough curriculum system: the combination of the school’s teaching strategy requirements, combined with AS & A level students’ own characteristics, developed a rigorous, reasonable and thorough curriculum and planning.

Flexible choice of courses: Students can choose AS & A Level courses in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting and so on, according to their knowledge, interests and future overseas study plan to choose the appropriate subjects to study.

Humane examination arrangements: AS & A Level examinations are ‘learning and testing by the side’, and there are opportunities for resit. This has greatly reduced the psychological pressure of the student examinations, and is also conducive to students to perform their normal academic standards.

Beijing Royal School has always insisted to build the school into the first coherent system curriculum Cambridge school in China, and the flagship teaching demonstration centre and teacher training base. At present, in addition to the IGCSE, AS and A Level courses, the school also successfully introduced the Cambridge International Curriculum in the Primary and Secondary 1 courses, in order to get through the Cambridge International Curriculum consistent education system.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is one of the world’s most exciting educational courses for 16-19 year olds.
It focuses on personal, professional and academic development and is globally recognized by universities for the holistic and rigorous education it provides.
The IB works hard to make sure the DP is globally recognised by universities, with its students gaining competitive offers for further study.
