‘Share the Earth’ was this month’s study unit for the 2nd grade International classrooms. How to live with Animals on Earth in harmony became the focus. After discussion, PYP teachers decided to bring students to the zoo.

May 18th was a little warmer than usual. In the morning, teachers prepared everything needed like maps, napkins, wet tissues, and especially sun cream to prevent sunburn.

On the bus, the classes were ardently discussing their research targets.. After arrival, they were divided into groups and each group went on to research 10 animals including their names, distribution, habitats and food.

Although it became hot, the students were as serious as little scientists working their tasks. It was hard to believe they were only 2nd grade students.

After the hard work, enjoyed a great lunch at Panda Restaurant in the zoo and then some of them continued their research. They even became the little tour guides to tell some interesting knowledge to their teachers.

Around 2:30 pm, students got on the bus and said goodbye to Beijing Zoo. Some of them were still discussing their findings on their way back to BRFLS. Teachers were so gratified to see it and everyone thought this inquiry-based trip was great!
