IB training丨Hands-on constructivism

On April 7, 2017, Mr. Antonio Flores from BRS IB center held the first training session for Hands-on Constructivism for BRFLS. A total of 12 Chinese and foreign teachers participated in the training. In the first session, we discussed about the following topics:

  1. Is talent inherited or is it possible to build talent?
  2. What is a good way to praise a talented student?
  3. How do you praise students for their effort in class?
  4. Three of the main characteristics of IB education.
  5. What is global-mindedness?
  6. How would you describe PYP/MYP/DP to parents, students?

Through taking turns to pair up for interactive discussions, the teachers not only deepened their understanding of IB, but also explored certain educational concepts in a broader sense.

This training on Hands-on Constructivism spans through nine sessions, including topics such as mindsets, class discussions and basic IB (constructivist) theories. We will be exploring how to guide students to think, discuss and share. The training starts from theory and ends with practice. Coupling with the ongoing IB seminars that BRFLS holds, teachers will be able to improve own teaching through learning, exploring, practicing, watching, proposing and accepting feedback and constructive advice.
