Parent-school cooperation 丨BRFLS Grade 9 Parents’ Meeting

On March 17th, BRFLS held the first Grade 9 parent-teacher meeting this semester, giving instructions about graduation and standardized exams. More than 200 parents gathered in the auditorium to participate in the event. Liu Xiaoxia, Vice Principal of BRS, Han Bing, Director of College Counseling Center, Shi Ling, staff of Admissions Office, Sun Jingxiu, head of Grade 9 homeroom teachers, and Wang Fuli, principal of BRFLS Junior High delivered speeches on a series of topics covering high school life, preparation for standardized exams, preferential policies for returning students, and Grade 9 students’ academic performances since the beginning of the semester.

Our High School:

Liu Xiaoxia, Vice Principal of BRS

“Our goal is not to make students get full A+ (of course, A+ is very good), nor to make students become doctors, engineers, managers or members of other job-safe professionals. We firmly believe that every child is special and we are going to help them achieve their best.”

This is what Principal Liu said at the end of her speech, which won the favor of both parents and students. BRS is student-centered and we try our best to meet different demands of all students. The establishment of more than 100 disciplines, 30 independent student associations, and different types of international curriculums and grades make it possible for our students to have their own special development paths.

Han Bing, Director of College Counseling Center

“We can compare students’ performances to the value of money, and different curriculum represents different currency type. Which is more valuable, 100 rubles or 100 dollars? This is self-evident. Advanced international courses are a strong guarantee for students who want to enter excellent universities!”

Director Han made it clear the significance of international curriculum through a simple analogy. BRS provides students with different international courses such as AP and A-level courses, which is undoubtedly a strong guarantee for our students to enter universities. In addition to international entrance examinations and other mandatory requirements such as IELTS, TOFEL, and SAT, some soft power such as teachers’ recommendation, activities and hobbies are also very important. As an international school with multiple resources and cooperation opportunities, BRS will undoubtedly provide a broader platform and easy access to international development for our students.

Preferential Policies:

Shi Ling, staff from Admissions Office

Ms. Shi Ling gave a detailed explanation of the preferential policies for returning students who would like to enter our high school. Related scholarship policy documents can be found on the official website of BRS.

Parent interviews

At the end of the parents’ meeting, parents headed to their children’s homerooms to have an in-depth communication with subject teachers. After the meeting, we interviewed several enthusiastic parents:

Q1: How did today’s meeting help you?

Parent: Today’s meeting is very timely. As a parent, it’s important for me to know all the information before choosing a high school for my child. Today, I am really touched when I saw the child in the video introducing their own robots in English. I hope my child can also express his ideas explicitly.

Q2: Do you still have any questions about overseas study?

Parent: Absolutely yes. But after today’s meeting, I get to know that there is such a big difference in applying for domestic and overseas universities. They have to pass various international exams and attend different activities. In essence, I believe that international universities put an emphasis on students’ comprehensive capabilities, academic abilities, organization abilities, etc. That’s why I chose an international school for my child. I think BRS could be an excellent platform.

Q3:What’s the most impressive thing about today’s meeting?

Parent: I would say that I have found an echo here in BRS. My child is never the most outstanding student in terms of studies, but I don’t think he is any less good than others. The goal of our education is not to get good scores but to help them understand what they really want. There are nearly 100 courses in high school, which surprised me. I believe that my son could absolutely find his advantages and achieve his best in BRS. In a word, let the students achieve a better self and live a unique life.
