The month of September at BRS is a lively celebration of fresh starts! We’ve welcomed both new and returning students back to campus, and it’s once again abuzz with energy and excitement. The campus is bustling with back-to-school activities, the beginning of the sports season, and an abundance of BRS spirit. Our teachers have also been diligently planning and preparing for the upcoming school year.

As the new school year kicks off, the entire BRS community is brimming with enthusiasm and determination to achieve new learning goals for the 2023/24 academic year!

New BRS Lions on Board

A new school year has commenced, and we are thrilled to introduce the latest members of the BRS leadership and faculty team. Dr. Wang Xiangbo has joined us as the Executive Principal of Beijing Royal School. Additionally, we have welcomed 47 new teachers from China and abroad, each with a wealth of teaching experience in various countries, diverse cultural backgrounds, and unique expertise from around the globe.

Coming together as one BRS family, our dedicated educators, who share a strong commitment to the BRS mission, are poised to make a meaningful impact and collectively shape the future of education!

Once a Lion, always a Lion:

After a decade Alumni Reconnect with their Alma Mater

 BRS has always been more than just a school that offers world-class education; it’s a warm and welcoming place where many students forge deep and lifelong connections.

Jiang and Song, both graduates from the BRS Class of 2014, recently returned to reunite with their cherished alma mater, a decade after graduating from BRS. Their visit was particularly special as they were about to officially tie the knot.

On the occasion of the Qixi Festival (七夕节 in Chinese), also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day, we shared a heartwarming ten-year love story in a WeChat article with our readers and friends. A Family who pulls together, stays together:

Tug-of-War Fosters Unity and Strength  

 The annual Tug-of-War event epitomizes BRS as a cherished school tradition that nurtures unity and strength. It draws in hundreds of participants each year, all eagerly gathering to engage in the thrilling tug-of-war contest. Students hailing from various classes and grade levels within the Senior High School Division unite as a single force while gripping the rope.

From slogans such as “Pulling as One” to “Let’s Unite to Triumph,” these rallying cries ignite a fierce spirit of competition, propelling them toward the sweet taste of victory. In the Finals, it was Grade 10 Class 8 who emerged victorious, securing the top spot. Bravo, BRS warriors!

A Time for Reunion:

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with BRS

 The Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Zhongqiu Jie (中秋节 in Chinese), ranks as China’s second most significant celebration following Chinese New Year. This auspicious occasion falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar calendar month, which corresponds to September 29 in the year 2023.

In China, the Mid-Autumn Festival mirrors the spirit of family togetherness, akin to Thanksgiving, earning it the endearing nickname the “Festival of Reunion.” Chinese families mark this occasion by coming together for hearty dinners, paying homage to the moon, relishing in mooncakes, and more.
