RLFS Students in UK 丨Chinese Cultural Ambassadors Meet with Lavender Garden

On June 22nd, RFLS said farewell to 2017 graduates, but 58 students in the UK are still continuing their overseas study. Last weekend, they came to the beautiful lavender garden and had a date with the cute animals there.

Norfolk Lavender was built in 1932. It’s the best flower field in England. It’s over 100 acres and there are dozens of different lavenders here. The seashore and country scenery are unforgettable and there are places for picnic beside the flower field.

Chinese cultural ambassadors

The study trip to the UK is not only about experiencing foreign culture but also introducing Chinese culture. The collision between English and Chinese cultures raises students’ interests in exploring their own. They become ambassadors of Chinese culture which includes Chinese food, Chinese language, ping-pang, etc.

Chinese language club events

We have reported that our students made Chinese language club posters and negotiated with local school managers on starting the club. After a week’s preparation work, the Chinese language club began to function. After school, about ten English students came to the club and learned some daily expressions. They were very interested in Chinese language learning and some showed talents in language learning.

A ping-pang match at Hazeley enabled our students to compete with local students.

At one cooking class at St. Thomas, students made dumplings.

At the playground of Biddenham, our students had a friendly game against the local students. It was an interesting interaction that overcame the language barrier.

The pictures illustrated students’ life here in the UK. They were filling the experiment reports, doing physics experiments and interacting with local students in music classes.

In English classes, teachers put an emphasis on assessing class efficiency through students’ learning outcomes. In recent weeks, our students have completed some delicate work with rich contents.

On June 18th, the school organized students to visit Cambridge.

In order to make up for the regret of missing the graduation ceremony, teachers invited all the students to eat at a Chinese restaurant, which is the most efficient way for ‘curing heart’.
