01.AP研究课程成果展示

4月12日-22日,北京王府学校选修AP研究课程的学生在研究成果展示活动中,分享了他们学术研究的卓越成果。过去的一年里,学生们在社会学、人类学、经济学、生物心理学等多种领域展开了实证研究。在他们AP研究课程的成果展示上,学生们呈现了自己的学术进步,得到了王府学校专家小组有价值的反馈。

此次成果展示是学生们对过去两年学术努力的完美总结。AP研究课程(AP Research)是继去年AP研讨课程(AP Seminar)之后的AP顶石课程的深入研究阶段。该课程为王府学子奠定了扎实的学术基础,整个学年的课程计划为每一位学生提供机会在某一个感兴趣的领域深入研究,获得深刻理解。

本次学术成果展示覆盖了多个领域,洪桢阳同学通过论文《中国的性别主张:活跃分子的观点》,探索了性别平等的倡导者在中国性别关系中的积极影响;苑楚婕同学在论文《不同恋爱关系中的人分泌的后叶催产素(一种荷尔蒙)差异》中展开了细致分析;从历史的角度中,李罗毅夫同学在题为《通过服饰分析儒家思想在汉代女性社会地位的影响》的论文中,分享了他在性别态度发展方面的研究成果;同时,李雨桐同学从社会学的角度分析了青少年人群中的闲聊现象;’刘凯然同学对在线共享经济中的歧视现象做了经济学分析;刘雪源同学对中国文化背景中”道教”独特的宗教地位进行了探究。

北京王府学校鼓励对学术研究有强烈兴趣的学生加入AP研究课程项目,在该课程中,学生将系统学习学术研究方法和学术论文写作,对感兴趣的问题进行深入研究,为未来的学业深造奠定坚实基础。(中文翻译:巩宁)

For the past two weeks from April 12th to April 22nd, our BRS AP Research students have shared the impressive findings from their original academic research in academic presentations. Over the past year, the students have conducted empirical studies in fields ranging from sociology and anthropology to economics and biological psychology.  Through their AP Research presentations, students transmitted their academic progress and gained valuable feedback from expert panels from the BRS campus community.

This month’s presentations are a culmination of two years of hard work. AP Research is the second and final year of the AP Capstone program. The program provides rigorous scholarly training for BRS students, and AP Research provides the opportunity for each student to develop a specialized plan to investigate a topic of their own selection for a full academic year.

The academic presentations covered a variety of fields and topics. Hong Zhenyang’s discussion of “Gender Advocacy in China: An Activist’s Perspective” revealed how advocates for gender equality have had a positive impact on gender relations in China. Yuan Chujie presented a detailed analysis of her paper examining, “How much the Oxytocin concentration differs among people with different relationship status?” From a historical perspective, Liu Luoyifu shared his findings on the development of gendered attitudes through his presentation on “Using Artifact Analysis to Analyze the Impact Confucianism Had on Women’s Social Status in the Han Dynasty.” Other impressive student studies included Li Yutong’s sociological examination of gossip among adolescents, Liu Kairan’s economic analysis of discrimination in online sharing economies, and Liu Xueyuan’s exploration of the unique status of Daoism as a religion in the Chinese context.

At BRS, students with a strong motivation for research are encouraged to join the AP Research program to explore their academic motivations and develop expertise as true architects of knowledge.

02.团日活动

今年的4月15日是我国第六个全民国家安全教育日,为贯彻落实习近平总书记提出的“总体国家安全观”,教育引导广大团员青年牢固树立自觉关心和维护国家安全意识,强化维护国家安全的责任感,北京王府学校团委组织开展了“国家安全,人人有责”主题团日活动。

团委通过制作并张贴国家安全日主题海报和条幅,扩大活动的宣传,提升主题教育的影响力。在主题团课活动中,团委书记李惠老师集中带领团员和积极分子学习“总体国家安全观”,同学们积极分享自己的故事。教导处洪传木主任最后发表总结讲话。他希望同学们树立国家安全意识、提高政治站位认识、维护国家安全、深入理解国家安全的重要意义。同时,他还号召同学们敢于与危害国家安全的行为作斗争,要用自己的实际行动做校园安全的积极维护者。

On April 15th during China’s sixth National Security Education Day, General Secretary Jinping Xi’s proposal for the “Overall National Security Concept” was established. It is designed to educate and guide broad-based youthful members to initiate a conscious awareness and heightened need to maintain national security. With this is mind, the Youth League Committee of Beijing Royal School organized and hosted a group, daylong event themed “National Security is Everyone’s Responsibility”.

The Youth League Committee created and posted National Security Day posters and banners in order to promote the event and the importance of being informed about national security priorities.  The secretary of the Youth League Committee Mr. Li Hui led the members and activists in learning about the “Overall National Security Concept” during class activities, and students actively shared their stories. Director Hong Chuanmu of the Teaching Office delivered the final summary. He entreated students to develop a deep understanding of China’s political positions and the importance of maintaining national security. He called upon students to actively resist behaviors that endanger national security and to apply this philosophy on campus as well.

03.初高中学生交流

近日,北京王府学校8、9、10三个年级的学生们在ERW101课中学习了比较写作。他们使用维恩图和饼图作为可视化对象,一直在练习就各种主题编写详细的比较作业。作为该单元的最终项目,学生们必须分组工作,制作带有视觉效果和书面文章的海报,以比较初中和高中之间的异同。学生同时使用维恩图和饼图,探索了自己的高中和初中的差异,以及高中初中在日常生活中花费的时间有何不同。

高中生完成写作和海报后,与来自北京王府外国语学校的初中生一起举办了一个共享展览。4月22日,所有6年级的中学生都应邀参加了共享展览,来观看海报,并与10年级的学生就中学和高中的经历进行了交流。中学生与高中生之间的这种相互交流有助于让年轻学生预览他们的未来,同时让年龄较大的学生扮演老师的角色,以好奇心和热情分享他们制作的项目。

Students in Grade 10 Class 8 and Class 9 have been learning about comparison writing in their ERW101 class recently. Using Venn Diagrams and Pie Charts as visuals, they have been practicing writing detailed comparisons on various topics. As a final project for this unit, the students had to work in groups to produce posters with visuals and written articles comparing the similarities and differences between middle school and high school. Using both the Venn Diagrams and Pie Charts, students explored the differences in their own middle schools and high schools, as well as how the time spent in their daily lives differed between middle school and high school.

Having completed their writing and the posters, a sharing exhibition was set-up with our own RFLS Middle School. All Grade 6 Middle School students were invited to the sharing exhibition on April 22nd, 2021 to come and view the posters and talk with the Grade 10 students about their experiences in both middle school and high school. This cross-communication between middle school and high school students served to give the younger students a preview of what lies ahead for them, while allowed the older students to step into the role of teacher and share the projects that they had produced with a curious and enthusiastic audience.
