Cultivating Learning Through Campus Greenhouse Project

Since the fall semester, our Environmental Science students at Beijing Royal School have been actively engaged in building and maintaining a campus greenhouse—turning learning into meaningful action.
From preparing the soil and constructing planting beds to carefully sowing seeds, students invested time, teamwork, and persistence to bring the project to life.

A Winter Harvest
This winter, their efforts are paying off. The greenhouse is flourishing, with healthy green vegetables thriving despite the colder season.
We are especially excited to see spinach and cilantro growing well, offering a tangible reminder of what dedication and sustainability-focused learning can achieve.

Cultivating Core Skills
More than a science project, the greenhouse reflects our BRS Student Learning Outcomes.
Students demonstrated collaboration by working together across tasks, responsibility by caring for living systems over time, and critical thinking by applying environmental science concepts in real-world conditions.
The project also nurtures global-mindedness and stewardship, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices and respect for the environment.

Gratitude for Guidance
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Teacher Shi Yanling for her dedication, guidance, and ongoing support.
Through her leadership, students have been empowered to take ownership of their learning and to see how science can create positive, real-world impact.
We look forward to continued growth, learning, and harvests ahead.
