Fazheng Group & Cambridge International Examinations Cambridge Associate Celebrate Partnership

On 12th December, the Fazheng Group invited Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) associates and Chengdu Huiwen International School Cambridge Associates to Beijing Royal School (BRS) to celebrate the launch of an exciting educational partnership.

Honored guests at the launch ceremony included Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, CEO of CIE,, Mr. Rod Smith, Managing Director of Education, Cambridge University Press, and Eric Ding, Regional Director of East Asia,  Cambridge International Examinations, Lina Li, Senior Manager of East Asia, Cambridge International Examinations, and Summer Song, Professional Development Manager of East Asia, Cambridge International Examinations. In addition, invited representatives from 20 schools nationwide were in attendance.

At the ceremony, Wang Guangfa, Chairman of the Fazheng Group and Principal of Beijing Royal School highlighted the benefits of CIE partnership. “China’s education should be in line with international practice so as to foster versatile talents that adapt to the needs of social development. Beijing Royal School is fully authorized by the CIE with the full authority to provide Cambridge curricula and examinations to our partner schools Cooperation with CIE international schools provides a pathway to developing an authentic and collaborative curriculum.”

Beijing Royal School became an official CIE Associate in October 2016 and was granted independent approval authority for programs in Cambridge Associate Schools in China.. BRS will work with CIE on international curriculum design, teacher training and interschool communication.

“We could have no better partner in China than Beijing Royal School and the Fazheng Group. It is not easy to create a good Cambridge international program in schools in China. It requires planning. It requires resources. In particular, it requires good teaching philosophy and, subsequently, teachers who know what they are doing and know how to do it well,” said Michael O’Sullivan, CEO of CIE, who went on to praise BRS for its outstanding team work in developing an array of outstanding plans for Cambridge schools in China. These include excellent teacher training programs, alliances with more high quality branch schools, and further development of Cambridge International curricula. He voiced his enthusiastic endorsement of future collaboration and program development.

Beginning in 2003, Beijing Royal School introduced the A-level curriculum. Beijing Royal School was also the first Cambridge affiliated school in Beijing to enroll Chinese students. Over the course of 13 years CIE and BRS have developed a relationship of mutual trust and respect. Recently, the partnership has fast tracked with BRS and CIE hosting the first Cambridge Curriculum Development Training for Elementary & Secondary Schools in March 2015, and in June 2016, BRS winning authorization as a Cambridge Professional Development Center, and in September 2016, hosting the largest Cambridge Professional Development IGCSE Training in North East Asia.

Rod Smith, Managing Director of Education Cambridge University Press expressed his full confidence in the long-term relationship between CIE and BRS. At present, the cooperation between China and the UK in the field of education has become increasingly close; and the standard for talent cultivation in China has risen, thereby strengthening the strategic partnership between BRS and CIE.
