A Seminar about Growth Mindset Held for BRS teachers

Test scores and measures of achievement tell you where a student is, but they don’t tell you where a student could end up.

—- Carol S. Dweck

On November 21, BRS teacher Upashna Rai Simandan, who has over 11 years of teaching experience in international schools, conducted a seminar about “Growth Mindset” so our BRS teachers could fold this into their teaching methodology. The terms growth mindset and fixed mindset were coined by Dr. Carol Dweck in 2006 to describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. A growth mindset assumes that abilities and intelligence can be developed, and this in turn can help our students understand that effort makes them stronger and smarter. They are, therefore, more likely to put forth the extra time and effort that leads to higher achievement.
