On March 26th, BRS held the first IB Visual Arts Exhibition in the Qingzheng Painting and Calligraphy Academy. The exhibition was planned and arranged by three students, Eileen Li, Daisy Huang and Erica Ding, inspired by and with the theme of their works. During the opening ceremony, they introduced their theme and creative process and confidently and openly shared creative ideas, which, in turn, encouraged teachers and students in attendance to participate in in-depth discussion and interaction regarding the art works.

The exhibition not only displayed results of IB visual art coursework, but it also displayed the development level reached in visual arts using IB teaching methods: students’ innovative capabilities and cooperative teamwork abilities, and the construction of supporting facilities of BRS. It was positively and enthusiastically received by all senior high school leaders and art teachers and students, as well as the parents of the three students who designed the event that were in attendance. This harmonious atmosphere of home-school communication allowed everyone to acknowledge the in-depth cultivation taking place in the arts and the diversified developmental ability achieved by students in senior high school.

On March 27th, the 3rd Parents’ Workshop was launched online as scheduled by Ms. Yan Xiaofei and Xu Longsi, teachers from the Psychological Counseling Office of BRS, and was themed “the Internet Addiction of teenagers”. The two teachers combined the unique personality and physiological characteristics of teenagers, from the psychological perspective, to address the psychological needs of students and to provide parents ways to communicate effectively and compassionately with their children in regards to education and the internet. Following these guidelines established in workshops such as this one will facilitate finding a balance between the virtual world and the real world in a more natural way for all those concerned.
