一分耕耘，一分收获——二·二班汤亚贤家长来信
从一年级第一学期开始，我的儿子汤亚贤就一直在北京王府外国语学校小学部就读，我们选择王府外国语小学的初衷，就是看重其灵活、宽松的教学氛围和国际特色，以及丰富多彩的兴趣课程。孩子是在一年级下学期加入合唱团的。合唱团，如其名称“七彩梦”所寓意，激励孩子们去追求美好的梦想。
My son Tom began his study atBeiJing Royal Foreign Language School in the first semester of Grade One. The reason why we chose RFLS is that it highly values flexible international teaching approaches as well as diversity of interest classes. Tom joined a chorus at the beginning of the second semester of Grade One. The Choir, as its name “Colorful Dreams Choir” symbolizes, encourages children to pursue their wonderful dreams.
这学期，由于合唱团标准高、要求严，亚贤有一段时间产生了一些消极情绪，但是在老师们循循善诱的教导之下，他逐渐适应了合唱团的要求和课堂氛围。尤其前一段时间，为了让小歌手们能够在“第十一届国际青少年艺术节”上出色表演，合唱团的老师们甚至还时常牺牲自己宝贵的休息时间，给孩子们义务加课，令家长十分感动。
In the starting period of the first semester of Grade Two, as music teachers raise the requirements with the members of the Choir, Tom once became dispirited and fell in the blues. He, however, successfully adapted to the class atmosphere and more stringent training standards with help and guidance of his teachers. What impressed all the parents is that, not long ago, the teachers even sacrificed their precious spare time to add training hours, just hoping the children would be able to make an excellent performance at the 11th International Music Festival for Juveniles(IMFJ).
一分耕耘、一分收获。2016年12月17日，孩子们在“国际艺术节”上表演时，个个儿精神饱满、歌声嘹亮，十分投入。表演完毕之后，我问孩子：“站在舞台上合唱，心里啥感觉？”孩子回答说：“感觉自己很自豪！”我想，这就是音乐的力量、表演的力量、团队合作的力量。孩子开心，家长心里也感到由衷的满足。
No gains without pains. On December 17th, 2016, “Colorful Dreams” choir team made their debut at the 11th IMFJ by singing “The Shepherd Boy” and “Clap Your Hands and Sing Hallelujah”. Right after the performance, when I asked how he felt when he was singing, my son replied, “I felt very proud at the stage”. I believe that his confidence stems from his immersion in music, performance and teamwork and that all the parents on the spot shared how the budding performers felt.
其实，音乐不仅可以陶冶性情、还可以促进孩子的语言学习、增强孩子的自信心。作为独特的歌唱形式，合唱更能培养孩子的团队精神和集体荣誉感，而这些对于孩子一生的成长都至关重要。
As a matter of fact, music can not only cultivate one’s temperament; it can also help with one’s language learning and boost one’s confidence. In addition, chorusing in unison is beneficial to the development of children’s sense of teamwork and collective honor, which is essential to the entire life of a child.
孩子一点一滴的进步主要来自于老师们的指导和点拨。作为家长，我对老师们的付出和奉献深表感激。希望七彩梦合唱团越办越好，孩子们的进步越来越大！
Progress of a student should be largely attributed to his teachers’ direction and enlightenment. As a parent, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and commitment. And I hope that “Colorful Dreams” Choir will go from strength to strength and little singers will make even greater progress!
