PYP主题探究|走进国际养老公寓,探究组织运行

Classes 3,1 and 3,2 spent our Wednesday morning at the Golden Cane. We explored the organization and had the opportunity to use the knowledge from our current unit: How We Organize Ourselves.

结合探究主题《我们如何组织自己》,5月9日星期三上午,PYP三年级1班和2班全体师生到金手杖国际养老公寓进行了参观实践。

Our central idea for this unit is: Organizations exist to assist our community. In our previous exploration of our unit, we have learned a lot about different types of organizations as well as their various structures, purposes and features. We know that organizations can be for profit or non-profit and that they should help a community.

我们本单元的学习主题思想是:组织的存在是为了帮助我们的社区。学生们在这个探究单元里学习了很多不同类型的组织,也学习了组织内部结构、目的和特点。学生们知道了组织分为盈利性组织和非盈利性组织,组织应该对社区进行协助。

The purpose of our field trip was to build upon our prior knowledge by exploring an organization at work and putting into practice our understanding of these three lines of inquiry:

– The features and structures of an organization

– The purpose and function of organizations

– Evidence that shows how organizations assist a community

我们参观实践的目的是:用学习到的知识去探索一个真实的组织是如何工作的。通过这次实践让学生们更好的理解本单元的探究内容:

– 组织的特点和结构

– 组织的目的和功能

– 展示组织如何帮助社区的依据

At the Golden Cane, we began by learning about the purpose, structure and features of the organization. First we were introduced to the setup of the community and how the Golden Cane fits in. Next the students were divided into groups and taken on a tour of the facility and shown all the resources and rooms available for the residents. After that the students had the chance to interview on of the staff members of Golden Cane to find out additional information that they could not answer. During this whole time the students had a worksheet that they needed to complete. Finally, the students ate lunch with the residents of Golden Cane. After the field trip the students completed a Venn diagram to compare the Golden Cane to an organization that they had previously researched.

在金手杖养老公寓,我们从了解组织的目的、结构和功能开始。首先,工作人员向我们介绍了社区的设置以及公寓的周边环境。然后,学生们分成小组,参观了公寓的良好设施资源和居住条件。之后,各小组学生们积极地采访工作人员,以获得更多的信息。在整个过程中,每个学生需要完成一张报告表。最后,学生们和金手杖的爷爷奶奶们一起用午餐、聊天。实践后,我们的学生完成了维恩图表,利用图表将金手杖养老公寓和先前调研过的组织进行比较。

Our students and teachers really appreciated the opportunity to experience seeing an organization at work. We were able to make significant connections from our classroom learning to the outside world. In addition, visiting an organization in the real world will help prepare our students for their Summative Assessment task.

我们的学生和老师非常感激有这样一个机会,能够参与到一个组织的工作状态中,这让我们能够将我们的校内PYP探究内容和外面的世界紧密结合。另外,参观这样一个真实的组织将帮助学生们更好的准备和完成PYP总结性评估的任务。
