UN Women’s Peer Leadership for Healthy Relationships Programme Phase II Launch Ceremony at BRS

On December 15, UN Women’s Peer Leadership for Healthy Relationships Programme Phase II Launch Ceremony was held jointly by UN Women, Beijing Royal School and Beijing Royal Charity Foundation at the BRS campus. BRS had the great honor to invite Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director to our campus.

During their visit, Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka met with UN Women HeforShe Advocate and BRS Principal Wang Guangfa. Both parties joined in discussing the partnership of BRS with the UN Women and how to promote gender equality in future cooperative efforts.

The event was a grand gathering of distinguished guests, including BRS Principal Wang Guangfa; Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director;Mr. Tong Dawei, UN Women National Goodwill Ambassador, who delivered opening remarks; Ms. Pan Jun, President of Beijing Royal Charity Foundation and Mr. Mohammed Nassiri, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacifics of UN Women attended the Launch Ceremony; as well as youth change-makers who shared their thoughts and talked with the guests in panel discussion.

BRS has implemented a UN Women programme to fight against gender-based violence named Peer Leadership for Healthy Relationship Programme in 2015. The Phase II project scheduled for 2019-2021 reflects the continued efforts of the partnership between UN Women, Beijing Royal School and Beijing Royal Charity Foundation, and will be focusing to extending the scale and scope of the pilot experiments and presenting a systematic approach to empower youths from diverse backgrounds to understand gender equality as a foundation and premise to the 2030 sustainable development agenda.
