BRS Class of 2018 Graduation Ceremony

May 24 dawned bright and sunny for the BRS Class of 2018 Graduation Ceremony, a time-honored rite of passage every student looks forward to with great anticipation. The parents, students, teachers, faculty and guests—more than 2,000—were greeted by the individual banner-sized photo images of the 278 seniors outlining the perimeter of the gym. As an annual tradition and an important part of the Ceremony, Principal Wang Guangfa switched their tassel from one side to the other on their mortarboards and conferred their diplomas.

The BRS Class of 2018 has received over 1,400 acceptance offers from highly regarded colleges and universities around the world: Oxford University, Emory University and Johns Hopkins University, just to name a few; and, as a group, they have earned scholarship offers totaling over $4 million. We are so proud of our students’ achievements. Job well done, seniors!

The graduates shared individual and group gifts. Feng Mukang built an amazing gate model of Beijing Royal School with 7,168 LEGO blocks, showing video of the building process to the astonished audience. The group class video was also very entertaining and heart-warming.

Graduation is a word that means to finish; Commencement, is a word that means beginning: this ceremony marks both as the BRS Class of 2018 leaves BRS to begin many adventures. May their futures be filled with joy, laughter and good friends. May their futures dawn with radiance. Keep in touch, BRS Alumni!
