Family- school cooperation 丨The Grade 6’s and Grade 7’s MYP Orientation Presentation in the Parents’ meeting of Beijing Royal Foreign Language School Junior High

We greeted the grand convening of the Grade 6’s and Grade 7’s MYP Orientation Presentation of Beijing Royal Foreign Language School Junior High on Sept. 7th, 2017. All 1080 seats in the auditorium were occupied.

In the first week, our school life started with the vibrant sounds of reading in the morning and the quiet self-study in the night. Every day became meaningful because of the wonderful classes and students’ enthusiastic participation.

In the meeting, the teacher leaders greeted all the parents and offered a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to all the parents for their coming and trust. Beijing Royal School is committed to cultivating children’s ability to find out problems and solve problems. The Junior High provides with professional guidance and psychological counseling services. Family-school cooperation is a strong guarantee for students’ healthy growth. Since example is always more efficacious than precept, teachers and parents should work together to set a good example for children to learn.

A Meaningful Communication

After the parents’ meeting, the parents took another short meeting in the classroom. The homeroom teacher had a detailed conversation with the parents, which contains the aspects of students’ behaviors, their study plan and the characteristics of each subject.

The MYP Orientation Achievements Presentation

In order to present the MYP Orientation Achievements, all the students in Grade 6 and Grade 7 made various panels and introduced the MYP Orientation’s structure to their parents, including the teaching objectives, ATL (Approach to Learning), the environment, global contexts etc.

This is the impressive moment when the students were waiting for their parents:

The students were making the panels:

Before the panels, students were introducing the MYP courses to their parents. They were really excellent!

Parents have words to say

After the parents’ meeting, our parents had many feelings to express. Now let’s listen!

Parent A: I was very surprised when I saw our children completed the wonderful presentation in a week. I hope the school can give more encouragement to our children to cultivate their ability of cooperating and making things by their own hands. Therefore our children can discover problems and then solve problems independently.

Parent B: I show my thanks and respect to the teachers. I was moved by their hard work and strong responsibility.

Parent C: After discussing with the teachers, I became familiar with the international curriculum. I think this kind of communication is very meaningful and I hope that there will be more communication like this.

Parent D: The homeroom teacher is very careful. This is the first time for our children to live in the school and they need a period of adjustment to school life and thank the teachers for their attention.
