On November 27th, the BRS Book Fair was successfully organized by the BRS Language Center at Qing Zheng Art Gallery. The Book Fair had a variety of excellent Chinese, English, and Spanish books from many publishers such as Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, China National Publications Import & Export Corporation, and Green Bean Book.

The Book Fair, as an extension of the English reading program for senior high school students, which was held from 10 am to 6 pm. Teachers and students were excited to browse through attractive displays of paperback books in Chinese and English.

Another attraction at the Book Fair were the posters made by Grade 10 students about the novels they have been reading which were also exhibited in fair. Using cardboard and poster papers, students had included creative details of their books’ main characters, plot, setting, conflict, resolution, and other interesting details. Each poster reflected creative skills, curiosity, collaboration and the excitement each group of students employed while working on this project. These vibrant posters were eye-catching, drawing the attention of everyone visiting the fair. In addition, teachers and students also voted for their favorite poster from the exhibition.

Hosting the Book Fair as an essential part of the English reading program has enabled students to access high-quality reading resources on our campus, expand their reading interests, develop good reading habits, enrich and broaden their vision, in order to become global citizens with a global mindset. In addition, the poster making activity provided students opportunities to develop collaborative skills – which were conducive to develop students’ critical thinking, and social skills as embedded in BRS Schoolwide Learner Outcomes. The BRS Language Center aims to encourage BRS students become avid readers and lifelong learners.
