Teacher Journeys|PYP四年级特辑

As part of their learning journey, students designed interview questions for our school’s foreign teachers to explore the reasons that motivate people to move abroad. Students conducted their interviews in small groups and used their notes to write a short summary of each teacher’s journey.
The following are the summaries of their learning:

This is Miss Sara. She likes to live in a small house. Now, she lives in an apartment. Miss Sara likes the food from China called cucumber. She came to Beijing because she wants to teach Beijing’s people. Miss Sara lived 3 years in China, but she just lived 1 year in Beijing. Her home country is America. She thinks where she lives influences what type of home she lives in.

Today I interviewed Ms. Sara. She teaches dance for 1-4 grades. She is from America and she has been in China for 3 years. When she was young she had a big house. She likes eating pizza because in America there are many ways to cook pizza. She thinks the bedrooms in America are bigger than in China. She doesn’t want to go back to America because she likes to teach in China.

Today I interviewed Ms. Sara. She is a grade 4 dance teacher. She is from Minnesota, USA, and she likes Chinese houses, too. She has been in China for 3 years. She thinks Chinese house are warm and comfortable, but she likes the houses in her country more because there is more space than China. She wants to live in Europe and own a small cozy house in the country. She also wants to live in a big city with nice people. She lives in an apartment now, but when she was young she lived in a big house. She likes eating cucumber and pizza very much. She thinks China and Minnesota are different but she still likes China.

Today I interviewed Ms. Pam. She is a grade 1 PYP teacher and she is from America. She has been in China for 6 years. She came to China because she wants to get a teaching job, and her friends are here. She likes PYP better than regular school. She likes China more now, she likes America a little because she can speak English. She doesn’t like America’s President, Donald Trump.

Today, I interviewed Ms. Pam. She is a grade 1 PYP teacher. She is from America. She has been in China for 6 years, and she has a brother and two sisters. She has lived in Beijing because she wants to have a teaching job. She lives in an apartment with 2 bedrooms. She thinks the difference between American girls and Chinese girls is that Chinese girls want to get married, but American girls don’t have must stress. She said that saying “Hi” and being respectful are good ways to make friends. She likes Beijing and Shanghai the best.

Today, we interviewed Ms. Theresa. She is from the U.S.A. She came by airplane. She came to China because she wants to teach. She likes China’s food, people and the cultures here in China. There are all four seasons in the U.S.A. She lived in a house in Virginia.

Today, I interviewed Ms. Theresa. She is from USA. She has been in China for 6 years. She teaches English. She likes people and her students. She likes to eat BBQ and cucumbers. She feels happy in China because China has lots of good people and students. I like Ms. Theresa in our school.

This is Mr. James. He moved his home very often. I think he is a risk taker! He lived in Russia, England, Canada, Italy and South Korea before. He lived in a suburban area before. On 9/1/2018, he came to Beijing. He thinks China is good. His house is very big. Now, he lives in an urban area.

Today, I interviewed Mr. James. He is a grade 2 PYP teacher. He is from England. He has been in China for 1 year. When he came to China he had jet-lag and he was tired. He likes China because China is beautiful. He really likes his home because his home is big. He likes to help students learn.

This is Ms. Chrys. She is from South Africa, there it is very hot, and there, in winter, people can swim. Their government is very poor. Their languages are English, Afrikaans ,and Zulu.

Today, I interviewed Mr. Mahaan. He is a grade 4 PYP teacher. He is from Mauritius. He has been in China for 4 months! His bedroom has just one bed and a bed side table. He likes to eat hot pot. He says his favorite city in China is Guangzhou. He wanted to get a better lifestyle, so he came to China.

Today, I interviewed Mr. Mahaan. He is a PYP Art teacher. He is from Mauritius. He has been in China for 4 months. He needs to work and save money for his son and get new work experience. He came to China in September 2018. Mr. Mahaan went to Shanghai for New Years. He took 18 hours to come to Beijing from Mauritius. His home is minimalist house. It only has a bed and a bedside table. He likes RFLS because the school is big and has many facilities.

This is Mr. Jordan. He is from Canada. Mr. Jordan wants to learn and travel in Beijing. Canada has big homes. Canada has 37,000,000 people. Jordan feels happy and excited to come to Beijing. Jordan misses cheese. He lived in a suburban area. Jordan is living in an apartment now. He chose to live in Beijing because of his wife and kids. He loves to teach kids in Beijing.

Today, I interviewed Mr. Jordan. He is a grade 3 PYP teacher. His family has 7 people. He wants to learn Chinese and about China. He lives in Wangfuwenxin Gangyu. He likes larou and lachang, and he likes Chinese food because Chinese food has lots of flavors.

Ms. Camila lived in a high population country before, but now she lives in a hutong. She lives in an urban area and it very quiet and old. She wanted to learn a new language. Her job is to teach first grade and she misses her family.

Today, I interviewed Ms. Camila. She moved to China because she wants to learn more languages. She is from England. Her job is a teacher and she teaches English for PYP grade one. She has a lot of fun in Beijing. She plays with her friends and watches many movies. Before, England had much pollution, but now not so much. She chose this job because she likes students and wants to learn more Chinese.

She likes Beijing because here has many different people. In Beijing, her job is teaching and she her home is a hutong. Her home is big and she likes China.

Today, I interviewed Ms. Nita. She is from South Africa. Nita thinks China is good because it is safe. She likes eating egg and tomato. Her favorite sport is horse riding. She moved to China because she works here and she lives in an apartment. Sometimes she returns to her homeland. She has one brother and one sister. Some cities she’s been to China are Shanghai, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao. She gets new friends because she thinks being helpful and friendly is important.

Our interviewing teacher is Ms. Nita. Mrs. Nita is from South Africa (in an apartment). She has been in China for 5 years. She said that she likes China because there are lots of good jobs, it is safe, and there is lots of yummy food. She lives in China because in South Africa it isn’t very safe, she needs a job, and her husband and baby are here too. She only went back to her homeland once a year. Her favorite thing about China is egg and tomato, all the friendly people , and Chinese culture. The journey in China makes her become nicer, because she meets a lot of friendly students. She has been to Shanghai and Qinghuangdao. Ms. Nita really likes China!

Today, I interviewed Ms. Lisa, she comes from Australia. She has three babies in Australia. I think Ms. Lisa was very kind and she is very nice. She helps me with spelling and she helped me answer all the questions. She came to China because she wanted to find a special job and one of the teacher in this school contacted her and she came to this school. She works in the PYP, it has 52 teachers and she made a lot of friends. Sometimes she will teach students. I’m happy Ms. Lisa is in our school.

Today, I interviewed Ms. Lisa. She comes from Frankston, Victoria, Australia. She likes China because she can learn a lot from China. She moved to China because she wants a good job. She chose PYP because she learned PYP. There are 249 students and 52 teachers in PYP. She loves China very much.
